As a part of the City of New Orleans effort to repair and upgrade city-wide roads and infrastructure, Bourbon Street is getting a makeover. Bourbon Street, as one of the most celebrated and visited streets in the world, has not had a complete upgrade since 1928. The much needed $6 million repair of Bourbon Street is underway and will include replacing existing drain and water lines, repairing sewer lines, repair and upgrade gas pipes and electrical conduits. In addition, the roadway will be resurfaced with 8 inches of concrete. The infrastructure upgrade is scheduled to be completed by the end of December in time for the opening of the City’s Tricentennial celebration.
