The Lafitte Greenway Bicycle and Pedestrian is a $9.1 million multi-use trail and linear park stretching 2.6 miles from the French Quarter to Bayou St. John and Mid-City.  This transformational project converted a former industrial railway into a recreational green space promoting healthy lifestyles and connecting neighborhoods in an entirely new way.  The Greenway includes an asphalt path for bicyclists, green space with landscaping, over 500 trees, pedestrian lighting, storm water retention features, curb extensions and signal-enhanced high-visibility crosswalks.  With the completion of the Lafitte Greenway New Orleans now has over 100 miles of designated bikeways which will support alternative transportation and serves as a gathering place for the entire city.
